The American Bulldog is a breed of the working dogs that was developed for gathering and catching livestock in farming. The breed was originally created by Mr. Johnson D. Johnson and Alan Scott after World War II. Here was were the two created the excellent breed known today as the American Bulldog. In the old days the role of the bulldogs was a means to control vermin and wild pigs. In the 17th and 18th century the breed was noticed for there ability to be dedicated not only to the farmers but as a highly respected fearless guard dog. But you can be fooled by their strong looks and large heads, these dogs are gentle in nature and very loving. Faithful with their owners and dedicated to every family member. Their loyalty is beyond what you could ever imagine.
They can reach a weight of up to 125 Lbs for the male & 65 to 88 Lbs for a female. In length they can grow as large as 28 inches long. Their coat is short and coarse, stiff to the touch.
